Elkhorn cruises in Lakes finale

— Elkhorn High’s boys basketball team put a final exclamation point on its Southern Lakes championship season Friday night.

The Elks (18-2), No. 9 in the AP Division 1 state ratings, closed the regular season and an 11-1 run through the conference with a 66-40 whipping of visiting Wilmot (4-16, 3-9).


Elkhorn had a 16-2 lead after the first quarter and was never threatened.


Jake Gerhart and Eric Bryson each scored 16 points and Max Findreng had 15 to lead Elkhorn. The three combined for all 11 of Elks’ three-pointers as Gerhart and Bryson had four each and Fendreng added three.

n Waterford 64, Delavan-Darien 57—Beau Steffens and Joe Sturino each scored 12 points as the second-place Wolverines held off visiting Delavan-Darien in a Southern Lakes finale.


With his team up by one after three quarters, Steffens scored eight points in the final period to help Waterford (14-6, 9-3) secure the win.


Tyler Butke and Aaron Logterman each had 15 points for Delavan-Darien (10-10,


6-6).

Badger led 23-16 at the half and took a 40-29 lead into the fourth quarter.

6-6 SLC). Dustin Milz scored 15 points for Westosha (3-17,


3-9).
