The free-throw line led McFarland High School’s girls basketball team to the victory lane in a WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal game Thursday night at Brodhead.

Kaitlyn Eversoll hit all six of her free throws in overtime, and the Spartans made 13 of 15 overall in the extra four minutes to hold off the second-seeded Cardinals, 48-43, and avenge a regular-season loss to the Rock Valley South champions.

The No. 3-seeded Spartans (17-5) play top-seeded Monroe (20-2) in regional title game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Verona. The winner advances to a semifinal game at Waunakee in the upper bracket of the Janesville Craig Sectional.
