Whitewater man killed in crash
WHITEWATER A Whitewater man was killed Saturday when the car he was driving crashed into a utility pole, police said.
Michael S. Nelson, 19, was northbound on South Wisconsin Street in Whitewater just before 1 a.m. Saturday when he swerved off the roadway and collided with a utility pole, according to a news release from the Whitewater Police Department. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.
Police Chief James Coan said police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, he said.
