— A Beloit man died after a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway 11 in Spring Valley Township.

Frank C. McIntyre, 75, Beloit, was pronounced dead after being taken to Mercy Hospital, Janesville, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.

A pickup truck driven by McIntyre collided with a trailer being pulled by an oncoming truck driven by Austin R. Hauser, 29, Orfordville, just before 4 p.m. on Highway 11 east of South Potter Road, the release states.

The trailer, which was loaded with a skid loader, was swerving back and forth across the centerline before the crash, investigators believe.

Speed and alcohol are not suspected as contributing factors, but the crash still is under investigation, the release states.

No charges or citations have been issued.

I dont think this guy should be charged!!! Accidents happen and he wasn't under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Thats why they call it an accident. Some people understand that concept and other people just dont get it.

Everyone thinks they are the perfect driver, well this could have happened to anyone. It doesnt matter what he or she is driving, a freak accident could happen to anyone no matter what you drive or what type of equipment you're pulling.

Sometimes equipment malfunctions while your driving and you cant do anything about it until it is too late, like in this case.

I feel bad for both parties involved & I hope people can be strong and get through the tough times ahead.

Thank you John Doe I know the man that was driving and he was properly licensed. Who can tell me the definition of an accident!?

TRUECITIZEN ~ you have valid points, but in all honesty, things just wear out sometimes, road conditions contribute to the weight shifting of the machinery being hauled (for example, the very bumping hwy 11 from the frost) and many other things other than neglegence. A simple over correction of the steering wheel could have thrown the trailer out of line. Please don't add assumptions to an already colorful tragedy. There is a little girl that is on here reading about her grandpa, plese don't place blame in her heart.

A lot of assumptions there.

I guessed the trailer was swaying due to equipment issues or possibly a lack of trailer brakes, and I am guessing that like most people hauling this kind of stuff (it was a larger work truck w/ a skid loader or bob cat or something), was not licensed to haul it.
*
Maybe I am wrong, but it seems likely especially the equipment issue. I have hauled things like that before and I know the limits and rules. This stuff happens all the time, and I feel bad it ended up in a fatality. As long as we are clear, I am not certain, and it is only a discussion. It doesn't seem fair this young person was working and this bad accident happens.

"However, he was probably not properly equipped or had the right class of license,"

And just what would you base that on?

No doubt this young man never meant to do any harm-obvious. However, he was probably not properly equipped or had the right class of license, now he has to live with this accident.

I believe he should be able to move on, but a lesson is here to be learned. Driver's statuses and safety equipment are not just there for tickets to be issued to bring in revenue.....it's also meant to save lives.
*
I hope both families can cope.

rueandb...can I ask what you think he should be charged with??? Are you perfect?? I think not. I find it ironic that in one breath u speak of respect and in the next of jail... I certainly hope that you or loved ones never find yourself in this position. I would hate for anyone to pass judgement on your apparently perfect ways. I would have to agree with fishingal...

I just can't believe how harsh people are when they don't really know exactly what happened. People absolutely amaze me! I feel sorry for both parties and families involved.

rueandb- I hope if you ever make a mistake in driving you are also thrown in jail. I certainly hope you never cross the center line or miss anything. YOU BETTER BE A PERFECT DRIVER AND NEVER HAVE ANYTHING GO WRONG. You don't know the driver of the trailer and you don't know the situation. Alcohol and drugs were not a factor which means it was simply an accident! They are out of everyone's control. Knowing that you were involved in an accident that killed someone is punishment enough!! You have no idea what he is going to live with because of this!

It may have been an accident however, it is still illegal to cross the center line in some areas and if the load was not safe to move then, he should have pulled over and addressed it or drove on the shoulder slowly. Bottomline is people are careless and are always in way to big of a rush...
