Delavan-Darien High School got the victory and the help it needed Thursday night to capture a second straight undisputed Southern Lakes girls basketball championship.
While the Comets were beating Lake Geneva Badger, 59-49, Elkhorn was knocking Union Grove out of the title race with a 53-48 victory in double overtime.
The combination gave Delavan-Darien (17-3, 9-3) the title by one game over Union Grove (12-7, 8-4).
Aana Cesarz, a 6-2 sophomore, scored a game-high 21 points to lead visiting Delavan-Darien past Badger (13-7, 6-6).
The Comets pulled away from a 28-25 halftime lead with a 21-11 third-quarter outburst. Cesarz and teammate Hannah Brown, who finished with 15 points, each scored eight during that decisive surge.
Courtney Flood also had a 15-point game for Delavan-Darien. Leah Rempert led Badger with 15, followed by Gina Ambrose and Elyse Reuss with 12 and 10, respectively.

Kasey Reeves led Elkhorn with 15 points. Brianna Entwistle and Ashlyn Anderson added 10 points apiece.
Bailey Schwartz led Union Grove with 15 points. Kaitlyn Wilks had 12 points and 13 rebounds.
