Beloit Police are searching for a 17-year-old from Janesville and his mother in connection with the theft of nearly 20 guns earlier this week.

Police identify the teen as Jared D. Johnson, who has recently attended high school in Janesville. He has not been in school the past few days. His mother is also being sought for questioning. Police say 39-year-old Laurie A. McAtee was last seen in the 900 block of Vine Street in Beloit. Police say she also has arrest/warrant commitments regarding worthless checks from a Janesville incident and housing code violations in Beloit.

Mother was only wanted for question because son not yet caught, had nothing to do with being involved! Job loss = late payment to Cash store= Worthless check, city ordiance warrent = damage to rental property that this landlord got stuck with responsibility = economic trouble that we all can relate to!

this story gets worse and worse, i first thought that teens having these guns was bad enough now that i know a mother has enabled this scary mess this is even worse. what a great thing to do with your child why don't you try teaching your child to read and go to college instead of how to steal things to kill people with i hope this mother gets the worst end of the punishment she is old enough to know better
