Andy Horton closed his Beloit College basketball career with a big night, but it wasn’t enough to save the Bucs.

Despite 30 points from Horton, an Orfordville Parkview graduate, the Beloit men’s team dropped a 92-68 decision to Lawrence in a Midwest Conference season finale for the Bucs Wednesday night at Appleton.

The game was close through most of the first half, including the Bucs (4-19, 2-14) holding a 19-15 lead.

Beloit trailed 30-29 with 5:22 left in the half before the Vikings (12-3, 16-6) took control with an 18-4 run for an 48-33 halftime lead.

The Bucs were within 51-35 a minute into the second half before Lawrence put together a 15-4 surge in the next five minutes that made it 66-39. Beloit got no closer than 17 the rest of the way.

Michael Horton backed up Andy Horton with 13 points for Beloit, and Edgerton graduate Travis Towns added 10.
