Just when Milton High’s boys basketball team was on roll, Monona Grove popped up and surprised the Red Hawks.
Zak Manthe scored a game-high 26 points as the host Silver Eagles built an 11-point halftime lead Tuesday night and made it stand up for a 66-55 victory that snapped Milton’s two-game win streak that included a major win over Monroe.
The loss dropped Milton (7-10) a half-game behind third-place with Stoughton (7-4) at 6-4 in the Badger South, while Monona Grove improved to 4-14 and 3-8.
The Silver Eagles (3-9) also got 14 points from Aaron Kondrasuk. Mason Walters led Milton with 21, and teammate Brandon Knudtson added 11.

n Monroe 78, Fort Atkinson 37—Mitch Tordoff made all five of his three-point goals in the first half as the Cheesemakers (12-6, 9-2) breezed past the host Blackhawks (1-16, 0-12) and grabbed a half-game lead over Madison Edgewood in the Badger South.
Monroe led 20-2 after the first quarter, and Tordoff finished with 23 points.
