— A current alderman and a former alderman advanced to the general election after winning the primary Tuesday.

Incumbent Mary Jo Fesenmaier, 45, of 633 Sue Ann Drive, received 79 votes, and former alderman M.L. “Mac” McBride, 54, of 205 E. South St., received 42 votes.

Newcomer Ted F. Horne, 36, of 1122 Romin Road, received 29 votes.

The April 7 general election won’t be the first time Fesenmaier and McBride will face off to represent the residents of the second district. The two battled for the seat in 2007—a race in which Fesenmaier handily beat the then-incumbent McBride, 183-63.

Fesenmaier is seeking her second consecutive term as District 2 alderman, a post she has held since defeating McBride in 2007.

McBride is seeking a fourth term as District 2 alderman, a post he held from 2000 until he was unseated by Fesenmaier in 2007.

A total of 237 ballots were cast Tuesday, but only 150 included votes for alderman.
