— UW-Rock County won a shootout over UW-Richland, 106-97, in a Wisconsin Junior College Athletic Association first-round men’s basketball playoff game here Monday.

The Rattlers (12-12) face Madison Area Technical College in a Western Division final at Madison on Wednesday.

UW-Rock led 42-34 at halftime and increased its advantage to 12 points in the second half, but Richland stormed back to take a six-point lead with 10 minutes to play.

“Nobody was playing defense the last five minutes,” Rattlers coach Scott Lee said.

The teams traded baskets down the stretch, but the Rattlers rallied to regain the lead and hold on for the victory.

“Keith Neuberger, Corey Kramer and Mario Selph hit some big shots for us,” Lee said. “It came down to who was going to hit the big shots.’’

Kramer finished with a game-high 26 points, Fred Stewart added 21, Selph scored 20, Neuberger got 13 and Lance Dunwiddie scored 12.

“Keith Neuberger deserves credit for shutting down (Marquis) Jones, Richland’s top scorer,” Lee said. “He did a good job on him.’’

Jones finished with 14 points before fouling out.
