Janesville's new Superintendent of Schools addresses the anticipated budget shortfall.

It's only her first week on the job, but Karen Schulte tells WCLO's Stan Milam Show she's already begun meeting with principals and teachers at all the district's schools. She's asking their input on how the district could cut close to $2 million in next year's budget. Schulte is asking if a proposed 2% increase in the budget could be avoided. She says staff has been receptive to the idea of holding the line on the budget. She also hopes to explore new revenue ideas.

The interim superintendent also wants to keep open the lines of communication with the public, through an Internet podcast she plans to prepare weekly.
