Fury ends regular season with victory
BELOIT The Rock County Fury finished its inaugural season on a high note, whipping the visiting Middleton Lynx, 6-1, in girls high school hockey here Saturday.
After a scoreless first period, Megan Lindgren scored the first two goals at 2 minutes, 32 seconds, and 6:04 to give the Fury a 2-0 lead. Ashley Mauerman and Chelsea Pomeroy added two more goals to put the Fury in charge, 4-0.
Lindgren added her third goal on a power play in the third period and Haley Bayreuther completed the scoring for the Fury.
Caitlyn Gusk had 11 saves in goal for the Fury.
Rock County (9-11) will play at the University School of Milwaukee in a WIAA sectional semifinal at 5 p.m. Friday.
