Parker gymnasts top West

— Janesville Parker High School made a grand exit from the Big Eight Conference gymnastics dual season, posting a 132.00-124.275 victory over visiting Madison West here Wednesday night.

Parker earned its highest team score the season to finish 5-2 in the Big Eight. Coach Cathy Lehmann gave the Vikings a big pat on the back.


“This was a total team effort,” Lehmann said. “These young ladies have worked hard, and it’s paid off for them.’’


Parker sophomore Ericka Whitson won the uneven bars (8.65), the balance beam (9.225) and the floor exercise (9.50). Fellow sophomore Emily Mauermann won the vault (8.40) to complete the Vikings’ four-event sweep.


Whitson won the all-around (35.725), Mauermann was second (33.65), and Parker senior Nicole Richardson finished fourth (31.775).


“It’s been a really great season,” Lehmann said. “This is a young team. The only senior is Nicole Richardson.’’


Parker competes inthe Mukwonago Invitational at 10 a.m. Saturday.
