Upsets prevailed in the Rock Valley North boys basketball Thursday night.
Evansville High rocked first-place East Troy, 69-61, to hand the Trojans their first conference loss. The Blue Devils (10-3) moved to within 1½ games of the Trojans (11-1).
Edgerton missed a chance to get to within a game of East Troy in the loss column by falling at McFarland, 30-28.
Evansville (12-5 overall) took control of the game with a 28-point third quarter, which turned a 29-28 halftime deficit into a 56-43 lead. The visiting Trojans never got closer than five points in the final quarter.
Brian Lunde scored seven of his 17 points for Evansville in the decisive third quarter, while Andrew Keister had six of his 19, and Jesse Deininger had six of his 15.
Danny Douglas and Mitch Windle each had 18 points for East Troy (12-4), and Scott Beckwith added 10.

n McFarland 30, Edgerton 28—McFarland’s zone defense put a dent in Edgerton’s Rock Valley North title hopes.
The Wildcats limited visiting Edgerton’s leading scorer, Bryan Gregory, to 10 points to pull out the narrow win.
Lucas Schmitz hit one of two free throws for the winning margin with 20 seconds left, and the Crimson Tide couldn’t get off a decent shot in that time.
Keenen Deer led McFarland with 14 points, while Schmitz finished with 10.
Edgerton (13-3, 12-3) remains 2½ games behind division-leading East Troy.

Whitewater (10-7, 8-5) pulled away to a 40-22 halftime lead in the big second quarter.
Miles Hookstead was the Whippets’ game leader with 23 points, and Tony Bilderback had 16. Senior guard Trevor Probst had 26 to lead the Eagles (7-9, 6-7).
