Two vie for Delavan chairman

— The town of Delavan will host a primary election for the board president seat, even though only two people want the job.

Supervisor Jim Wolfgram has withdrawn his bid for president. But his name already is on the ballot along with Dorothy Burwell and incumbent Chairman Wayne Polzin.

Because Wolfgram is on the ballot, there's a chance he could end up elected to the chairman position in April, Clerk Dixie Bernsteen said. If that happens, Wolfgram could choose to step down from the position. The board would appoint a new chairman, Wolfgram said.

Wolfgram's two day jobs would prevent him from devoting the necessary time to the job, he said. He likely will seek election to the town board in November, he said.

Polzin, 7090 Del View Ave., Delavan, was appointed to the chairman position in April 2007, shortly after being elected to his 15th year as a board member.

Burwell, N4836 N. County O, Delavan served as the town clerk from 1999 to 2001. She served on the Walworth County Board from 1997 to 2008.

The two open seats on the town board will be open in April as well.
