Sunday is a day to celebrate Janesville's place in the life of Abraham Lincoln.

Rock County Historical Society Director Madge Murphy says the event at the Lincoln Tallman House is free if you bring a birthday card for Lincoln. The event takes place from 1 to 3pm. Murphy is also planning the Civil Wars Days event to be held in July, which will feature a more extensive celebration of Lincoln's life and time in Janesville.

Can't wait? The Rock County Board is hosting a celebration of Lincoln's life Thursday at the board's regular meeting. The ceremony will include reflections on Lincoln's early life, anecdotes about his time in Janesville and the Gettysburg Address. Janesville Parker's a capella choir will provide music for the event.

The commemoration starts at 6pm at the county courthouse.
