— You know it's unseasonably warm when the Suburban falls through the ice in February.

The Janesville Kiwanis Blackhawk Golden K Club will continue to sell tickets for the Truck on Ice fundraiser through Wednesday, even though the truck fell through Monday, said Bob Johnson, fundraiser co-chairman.

It will choose the winners by raffle, just as it did three years ago when the ice never got thick enough to put the vehicle out.

This is the earliest the truck has fallen through in the fundraiser's six years, Johnson said. The previous record was March 2.

Last year, the truck didn't fall through until March 20.

Janesville set a record Monday with 52 degrees and could set one again today.

The record for Feb. 10 was set in 1999 at 58 degrees. Temperatures are expected to fall in the latter half of the week.

The comment on irony is spot on. That picture is as complicated as the Mona Lisa. Such as an onion, the layers that photo has are unpeelable.

Wasn't this about the latest the truck was ever put out on the ice, too? Seems like it was barely out there.
.
Too bad for everyone who bought the last few days and bet on today because they saw the wheels going through ...

Well hubby was WRONG LOL. He thought it wasn't going to go through till March. Glad we still have a chance at the prize though. Maybe I will have to byuy a couple more tickets now that I have a better chance at winning.

I can't take full credit for the idea. The Rock County Sheriff's Department deserves the prize.

Hmmmmm, wonder if that could have possibly been the cause of the snow sculptures melting in Lake Geneva this weekend?

Saturday's warm weather likely weakened the ice and contributed to the incident.
