Brodhead gets past Dodgeville
Kristen Ruchti and her Brodhead High teammates put a successful capper on their big basketball week with a 47-43 nonconference win Saturday night at Dodgeville.
Ructi, a 6-1 senior, scored points in leading the Cardinals to their seventh straight victory and a 14-3 season record. They lead the Rock Valley South at 12-1 after Thursday night’s pivotal 55-41 win over Orfordville Parkview.
Brodhead overcame an 11-8 deficit after the first quarter against Dodgeville (5-11) in a 16-7 second period. Ruchti and Dana Lewis each contriubted seven points to that rally.
Lewis added six of her 15 points in the fourth quarter, and Ruchti made five of seven free throws to close out the victory after Brodhead had built a 30-21 lead.
