Badger and La Follette win in Dubuque

Lake Geneva Badger High School road a commanding first half to a 66-52 victory over Dubuque Hempstead in the Wendy’s/American Trust Classic boys basketball tournament at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa on Saturday.

Badger (7-9) held Hempstead (5-12) to single digits in the first half en route to a 30-13 lead.

Braden Tice scored a game-high 24 points, including a 5-for-8 effort on three-point attempts to pace the Badgers. Austin Gaugert and Preston Dailey scored 12 points apiece for Badger.

Badger made 19 of 36 from the field, including 10 of 23 three-point attempts. Hempstead could only muster 15-for-48 from the field and went 5-for-21 on three point attempts.

-- La Follette 67, Senior 59 (OT)—The Lancers (7-9) gained a 11-3 advantage in the overtime to defeat Dubuque Senior in the Wendy’s/American Trust Classic in Dubuque on Saturday.

Brett Klinker scored 22 points, including six three-point baskets to lead La Follette. Marcus Henly added 16 points and Lucas DuBois chipped in 10.
