Ashley Roherty had the points when Milton High girls basketball team needed them the most Thursday night.

Roherty, a 5-4 sophomore, scored the last seven points as the Red Hawks used a final spurt to top visiting Stoughton, 34-29, in a Badger South game.

Milton (5-11, 4-6) had an 11-2 lead after the first quarter, thanks to Roherty’s seven points and Liz Eide’s four. The Red Hawks still led 19-9 at halftime, but Stoughton (2-14, 2-8) rallied to gain a 29-27 edge in the last three minutes.

Roherty hit a three-point shot to give Milton the lead for good at 30-27 with two minutes left, then made four free throws to cap a 20-point night and clinch the victory.

Gwen Sutter led Monroe with 15 points. Emily Rufenacht added 11. Both players hit a three-pointer and scored five points in the final quarter.

Sara Kuehl led Waunakee with 10 points.
