Middleton defeats Parker in makeup gymnastics meet

Middleton High displayed its quality by defeating Janesville Parker, 137.625-128.225 in a makeup Big Eight Conference gymnastics meet Tuesday.

The undefeated Cardinals swept the top three finishes in both the vault and bars.

Erika Whitson earned the Vikings’ individual win with a 9.3 score on the floor exercise. Whitson also finished fourth in the all-around.

Parker fell to 3-2 in conference action.

Parker coach Cathy Lehmann said her team performed well.

“Nicole Richardson had a great bar set,” Lehmann said of Richardson’s 8.0 score that earned her a fourth-place finish. “I’m really proud of her.

“Overall our team is hanging right in the 130-point zone. We’ll keep reaching for that.”

The Vikings will compete against La Follette-East at East at 7 p.m. Thursday.
