Repair work at Riverside Wading Pool in Janesville can be completed without installing shower facilities.

An aquatics consultant recently reviewed the scope of the project to determine if it met state qualifications for a maintenance project or a reconstruction project. A reconstruction project would require the city to build shower facilities at the pool. The consultant says as long as the pumps remain in the original pump pit and the chlorination method is not changed from a liquid to pellet process, the repairs can be considered a maintenance project. That determination saves the city both time and money on the project.

City officials say the pool is scheduled to open to summer swimmers June 12.
