— Tough times continue for Janesville Craig’s boys basketball team.

The Cougars fell behind early Tuesday and could not recover in a 66-48 loss to Mukwonago in the semifinal game of the Kenosha Tremper Holiday Tournament.

Craig (0-6) will play Menasha in tonight’s consolation game.

Trailing by three after one quarter, the Cougars were outscored 20-12 in the second to fall behind by 11 at halftime. Craig scored only six points in the third as the deficit grew to 14.

“They were a tough matchup for us because they were extremely big and athletic,” Craig High coach Mike Miller said. “And they shot the ball well.

“But we did a better job of being consistent on the both ends of the floor, except for a letdown offensively in the third quarter when shots didn’t fall.”

Brett Bates and Alex Lowe scored 15 points each for the Cougars.

“Those two need to step up and give us 10 to 15 points every game,” Miller said. “So hopefully, tonight was a start.

“We just need to come out tomorrow and try to get a win. That would be a great way to end the year.”
