Janesville Bluebirds rally past Waukesha
Trailing 3-0, Janesville’s high school co-op team went on a third-period scoring spree in a 7-6 come-from-behind win over the Waukesha Wings. The Bluebirds (5-3) scored five times in the third period, and will play Waukesha Memorial tonight in the title game of the Waukesha Holiday Tournament.
Cody Stitten scored two goals for Janesville, and Aaron Jacobson added a goal and three assists as the Bluebirds won their second straight.
“Give our guys credit for battling back and getting a win,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “I’m sure Waukesha was looking ahead to its next game after getting ahead 3-0 on us.
“The key for us tonight was staying out of the penalty box. We only had three penalties, and that allowed us to get back into the game. We really kept the pressure on them in the second and third periods.”
Ron Lindgren, Joe Allen and Sean MacDougall also scored for Janesville, while Tyler Lewis made 25 saves to earn the win.
