Federal court dismisses Rock Energy complaint
A federal court is dismissing a complaint the Janesville-based Rock Energy Cooperative filed against the Village of Rockton.
The lawsuit filed in May 2009 questions the validity of a 2005 referendum in Rockton. The referendum authorized the Village to acquire electric and natural gas distribution systems owned by Rock Energy. Officials with Rock Energy say the cooperative would be harmed if the Village moved forward on the referendum, and that it was entitled to bring the lawsuit against the Village. A spokeswoman says Rock Energy is considering its legal options regarding the dismissal.
