Delavan-Darien High’s big third quarter paid off Friday night in Southern Lakes girls basketball.

The two-time defending champion Comets overcame a 23-22 halftime deficit with a 20-9 outburst in the third period en route to a 52-40 victory over visiting Elkhorn.

Alana Cesarz scored nine of her 26 points for Delavan-Darien (3-1, 2-1) in the third quarter, including a 7–for-7 effort from the free-throw line. Emily Norris sank a pair of three-point goals to also boost the Comets’ third-quarter charge.

Sarah Woellert scored 10 points for Elkhorn (1-4, 0-3).

n Waterford 53, Badger 52—Stephanie Rank led the way with 21 points as Waterford (5-0, 3-0) stayed unbeaten and tied for the Southern Lakes lead.

The Wolverines took a one-point lead into the fourth quarter and maintained their edge despite making only six of 13 free throws in the final period.

Lana Wieseman and Emma Kopp scored 19 and 10 points, respectively, for Badger (0-5, 0-3).
