— After playing its best hockey of the season Tuesday night, the Janesville Bluebirds came crashing down Thursday night.

Fond du Lac scored four goals in the first 2:15 of the third period en route to a 6-2 nonconference win over the Janesville Craig/Janesville Parker co-op team.

Janesville (3-2) trailed 2-1 after two periods, but Fond du Lac scored twice in the first 34 seconds of the third period to push the lead to 4-1.

"You never want to give up a goal in the first or last two minutes of a period, and we did that twice tonight," Janesville coach John Mauermann said.

"As good as we were fundamentally in beating Sun Prairie on Tuesday, we were consistently poor with our fundamentals tonight."

Sean MacDougall and Aaron Jacobson scored Janesville's goals, while Tyler Lewis made 29 saves in suffering the defeat.

The Bluebirds will play a nonconference game at Oregon on Saturday at 7 p.m.
