Schebler earns All-America honor

— UW-Whitewater placekicker Jeff Schebler was named to the 2009 American Football Coaches Association Division III All-America Team on Thursday.

Schebler and the Warhawks will play Mount Union in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl for the NCAA Division III national football title Saturday at 10 a.m. in Salem, Virginia.

A senior from Davenport, Iowa, Scheblerís selection marks the third straight season the Warhawks have an individual earn AFCA All-America status. Whitewater has had eight players combine to win 10 All-America plaques from AFCA.

For the 2009 season, Schebler converted on 13 of 16 field-goal attempts and 78 of 80 point-after-touchdown attempts for 117 points. Schebler made 3 of 4 field-goal attempts between 40 and 49 yards, 6 of 8 attempts between 30 and 39 yards, 3 of 3 attempts from 20 to 29 yards and 5 of 5 attempts from 11 to 19 yards.

Schebler holds Whitewater records for extra-point attempts (243), extra points made (232), field-goal attempts (93) and field goals made (80).

In the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Schebler is a four-time all-league selection. He holds WIAC records for points scored (459), field-goal attempts (93), field goals made (80) and extra points made (232).

Schebler is the NCAA all-time kick scoring leader for all divisions (459). He passed Art Carmody (433) of Louisville. who played from 2004-07.
