Rock Valley basketball action

Walworth Big Foot High School roared past Brodhead in the third quarter for a 56-45 victory in Rock Valley South girls basketball Tuesday night.

The Chiefs (1-1, 1-1) hammered the Cardinals (2-2, 2-1) 15-5 in the third quarter for a 43-30 lead. Haley Schwartz scored eight of her game-high 24 points in the third quarter for Brodhead.

Jordyn Courier chipped in 15 for the Chiefs. Dana Lewis scored 17 points and Taylor Douglas added 10 for the Cardinals.

-- Parkview 52, Clinton 31—Stephanie Aasen scored eleven of her game high 20 points in the second quarter as the Vikings pulled away from host Clinton.

The victory lifted the Vikings (4-0) into the undisputed Rock Valley South lead at 3-0.

Olivia Nickel and Maggie Schultz scored 13 points each for Clinton (1-5, 0-3).

-- Whitewater 49, Edgerton 46—The Whippets (2-1, 2-1) rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat the Crimson Tide (1-3, 1-1) in a Rock Valley North game.

Julia Shelbourn scored 10 of her 22 points in the fourth quarter, including a 6-for-6 effort from the foul line as Whitewater rolled to a 15-7 advantage.

Despite being held to seven points in the quarter, Edgerton had a chance to tie it at 48-48 with six seconds remaining, but could not convert on an inbounds play. Hannah Runez made one of two free throws to seal the victory for Whitewater.

Whitney Oren scored 16 poins and teammate Meggie Schmidt added 15 points for Edgerton.

-- Jefferson 59, East Troy 45—Jessica Splittgerber scored a career-high 29 points in leading unbeaten Jefferson to a Rock Valley North victory over visiting East Troy (1-2, 1-2).

The Eagles built a 31-22 halftime lead with a 17-10 advantage in the second quarter as they improved to 3-0 in the conference and overall. Splittgerber had 14 points in a 17-11 final period that put the game out of reach.

-- McFarland 69, Evansville 41—McFarland (3-3, 2-1) built a 32-13 lead in the first half and cruised to a Rock Valley North win over the visiting Blue Devils.

Kaitlynn Eversoll led McFarland with 22 points, and teammate Kirsten Walker added 13. Jenny Ujke of the Spartans made it tough on the Evansville guards, but junior Kim Beggs scored 10 points for the Blue Devils (0-3, 0-2).
