The Rock County Board Thursday night will consider the merits of using geothermal technology in the jail expansion project.
A recent study concluded the payback period for the environmentally friendly heating and cooling technology could be more than 30-years. Officials say the additional costs come from retrofitting the existing portion of the jail.
Many county board members are questioning if any more money should be spent to study the feasiblity of using geothermal.
