Madison Memorial holds off Verona

Six-time defending Big Eight Conference champion Madison Memorial got back to its winning ways in boys basketball action Tuesday night.

Marquette University recruit Vander Blue scored 27 points as the visiting Spartans held off Verona, 66-60.

Memorial (2-1, 2-1), which was upset by Sun Prairie last Saturday, built an eight-point lead after three quarters.

Tre Creamer added 20 points for defending state Division 1 champion Memorial, while Matt Ropel led Verona with 20.

-- Middleton 68, West 44—Corey Nelson scored eight of his game-high 15 points in the first quarter as the visiting Cardinals took control early en route to the Big Eight win.

Cooper Armstrong paced the Regents with 13 points.

Tyler Kowalkowski led Stoughton (3-3) with 19 points, including five three-point baskets.
