Bluebirds come-from-behind to defeat Sun Prairie
SUN PRAIRIE Aaron Jacobson and Cody Stitten each registered hat tricks Tuesday night to lead the Janesville Bluebirds to a come-from-behind Big Eight Conference win over Sun Prairie.
Janesville’s high school co-op team trailed 3-1 in the first period but rattled off five of the next six goals en route to a 6-4 victory.
The Bluebirds (3-1, 3-1) battered Sun Prairie goalie Tyler Patterson with 48 shots, including 22 in the second period.
“Our energy level was pretty good the whole game, especially from our defensemen,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “We moved the puck well again, and really played strong around the net.
“And I can’t say enough about our young defensemen. They did a great job of keeping the puck in front of them and getting a body on somebody.”
Jacobson, a Janesville Parker senior, scored Janesville’s first three goals.
Stitten scored the last three for the Bluebirds, including the game-winner to break a
4-4 tie at 1:17 of the third.
Janesville will host Fond du Lac in a nonconference game Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.
