— Lisa Stone earned her 100th victory as the University of Wisconsin women’s basketball coach as the Badgers pounded Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, 68-38, in nonconference play Sunday at the Kohl Center.

Tara Steinbauer scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to record her third double-double of the year and the fifth of her career. Alyssa Karel led the Badgers in scoring with 12 points, while Rae Lin D’Alie and Taylor Wurtz chipped in 10 points apiece.

Catie O’Leary, a Janesville Parker High School graduate, played seven minutes and did not score. O’Leary went 0 for 2 from the field and missed her only a free-throw attempt.

Stone said she was pleased with the Badgers’ balanced scoring.

“It was nice to be able to do that and again to be able to rest our starters with this stretch we’ve been on, on the front gate of finals week,” said Stone. “Again, nice, balanced scoring.”

The Badgers made 50.1 percent of their shots, while the Cougars (2-9) managed to shoot just 27.5 percent. The Cougars’ Danielle Bennett scored a game-high 15 points and Ashley Bey added 12 points.

Wisconsin scored 15 unanswered points to take a 21-4 lead with 11 minutes remaining in the first period. An efficient field goal percentage of 64.3 percent in the half gave the Badgers a commanding 45-18 halftime lead.

Wisconsin will conclude its nonconference season hosting Robert Morris on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
