Cougar gymnastics second in Craig Invitational

JANESVILLE — JANESVILLE

Becky Schneider won the all-around to lead Janesville Craig’s gymnastics team to a second-place finish at the Craig Invitational here Saturday.

The Kenosha co-op team won the eight-team meet with 138.35 score, followed by Craig High with 134.8. Janesville Parker finished fourth with 124.05.

Schneider, a sophomore, won the all-around with a 35.675 score. She also finished second on vault, balance beam and in floor exercise.

“Becky was very excited about winning the all-around,” Craig coach Jean Welch said. “There were a lot of good gymnasts competing here today in the all-around, but Becky was consistent in all her routines and that was the difference.

“And I’m really happy with how the whole team competed today. You never know about the first meet of the season, but we came out and performed very well.”

Craig junior Sara Ennocenti won the vault with a score of 9.4.

Janesville Parker’s top finisher was Erika Whitson, who was third on floor exercise.
