Bluebirds skate past Madison West
JANESVILLE A quick start propelled the Janesville Bluebirds to victory Saturday at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.
Sean MacDougall scored just 44 seconds into the game and finished with a hat trick to lead Janesville’s high school co-op team to a 9-2 win over Madison West in a Big Eight Conference boys hockey game.
Janesville (2-1, 2-1) led 3-1 after the opening period and pushed the lead to 6-1 after two.
“Every goal we got today was the result of unselfish play,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “We had a lot of kids working hard without the puck, and then knowing when to take the shot or pass.
“Other than a few silly penalties that we took, we did a lot of things right.”
MacDougall capped off his hat trick at 6:58 of the third to make it 8-1, and Aaron Jacobson concluded the scoring for the Bluebirds with his second goal of the game at 7:41 of the third.
Cody Stettin also scored twice for the Bluebirds, while Ron Lindgren, Joe Allen and Cody Iverson each tallied once.
Tyler Lewis made 11 saves for Janesville in picking up the win.
Janesville will play at Sun Prairie in a Big Eight Conference game Tuesday night.
