Sun Prairie High freshman Nick Fuller stole the show in Friday night’s Big Eight boys basketball clash between the Cardinals and defending state champion Madison Memorial.

Fuller made a three-point basket to send the game into overtime and then made a putback as time expired to give Sun Prairie the 79-78 upset victory.

Jordan Noskowiak led the host Cardinals with 26 points, but Fuller was the man of the hour. With Memorial (1-1, 1-1) leading 78-77 thanks to a pair of free throws from Jamar Morris with five seconds left, Fuller rebounded Michael Boos’ miss and laid the ball in as time expired.

Marquette University recruit Vander Blue led the Spartans with 21 points, while Tre Kreamer added 16.

Sun Prairie (4-0, 3-0) moved into sole possession of first place in the conference with the win.

n East 63, Beloit 61—Madison East had a nine-point lead after three quarters and hung for Big Eight victory over previously unbeaten Beloit Menmorial.

Marques Mason scored 24 points, and Nimrod Hilliard IV added 20 as the Purgolders (3-0, 2-0) remained undefeated.

Ahmad Shamsid-Deen scored 15 points to lead Beloit (3-1, 2-1), while Robert Douglas added 14. The Purple Knights jumped out to a nine-point lead after the opening quarter, but the Purgolders took a two-point halftime lead thanks to a 17-6 advantage in the second quarter.
