East Troy High School’s boys basketball team won a shootout in the battle of defending Rock Valley champions.
The Trojans withstood visiting Brodhead’s 33-point second quarter and J.J. Panoske’s 31-point peformance to emerge with an 86-77 victory Friday night.
In typical form, East Troy used seven three-point goals as it improved to 2-0 in the Rock Valley North and dropped Brodhead to 1-1 in the South.
After jumping off to an 18-10 lead, East Troy overcame a 43-42 halftime deficit with a 24-12 advantage in the third quarter.
Scot Beckwith led the Trojans’ balanced attack with 23 points. Brandon Schmidt had 14, freshman Nate Dodge scored 13, Tanner Plomb scored 11, and Brett Bouwman added 11.
Panoske, a 6-9 junior, ran his two-game conference total to 64 points after scoring 33 in last week’s opener. Senior guard Jacob Cole had a 20-point game for the Cardinals.

n Clinton 55, McFarland 37—The Cougars held the Spartans to single digits through the final three quarters to notch the Rock Valley crossover victory at McFarland.
Tyler Wedel, who averages 21 points for McFarland, suffered a head injury in the first quarter and had to leave the game. Andrew Mullen scored 14 points for Clinton.

n Turner 47, Edgerton 42—The visiting Trojans held the Crimson Tide to nine first-half points en route to a Rock Valley Conference crossover win.
Turner (2-1, 1-1), which got 13 points from Tevien Pinkney, made 12 of 18 free throws in the fourth quarter.
Adam Gregory led Edgerton (1-2, 1-1) with 17 points, including five three-point baskets. Zach Nelson added 15 points for the Crimson Tide, which trailed 21-9 at half.

n Evansville 63, Parkview 57—The host Blue Devils rallied in the second half for a Rock Valley Conference crossover win.
Evansville (3-0, 2-0) trailed 33-26 early in the second half but outscored Parkview (3-3,
1-1) 18-5 to end the third.
Brian Lunde led the Blue Devils with 24 points, including 11 free throws. Evansville made 13 of 17 free throws in the fourth quarter as Parkview got no closer than six in the fourth. Casety Moseley added 16 for the Blue Devils.
Nick Melton, the Rock South Player of the Year last season, led the Vikings with 22 points. Parkview made nine three-point baskets but only two free throws.
