Delavan-Darien girls stay perfect

Delavan-Darien High's balanced inside and outside attack got the two-time defending champion Comets off to a winning start Thursday night in Southern Lakes girls basketball.

Alana Cesarz and Emily Norris led the way with 19 points apiece as the visiting Comets withstood Gina Ambrose's 25 points for Lake Geneva Badger to notch a 69-57 victory.

Norris had a 10-point first quarter to help put Delavan-Darien in control at 18-10. The 5-5 junior guard had two three-point goals during that spurt and added another in each of the last three quarters.

Delavan-Darien took a 53-40 lead into the fourth quarter, and Cesarz finished off the Badgers with a seven-point final period as the Comets improved to 2-0 for the season with eight players scoring.

Ambrose had three three-pointers among her nine field goals, and she made four of six free throws.

-- Waterford 50, Burlington 36—The visiting Wolverines jumped all over the Demons in the first half to win a Southern Lakes opener.

Jennifer Carriveau had 18 points to lead Waterford, which led 25-15 at half.

Cassi McCarthy led Burlington with nine points.

Hannah Grindle led three Union Grove (2-0) players in double figures with 12 points.

Katherine Neshek had seven points to lead Elkhorn (1-1).

Cassie Reeves paced Westosha with 17 points, and Maggie Prokop added 11.

Freshman Sarah Vozel led Wilmot with 12 points.
