WCLO's Steve Benton reports opportunities for outdoor winter activities are increasing with the season's first snow storm
JANESVILLE Outdoor winter activities in Rock County are launched, thanks to this week's snow storm.
Several parks in Janesville have very popular sledding hills. Janesville parks director, Tom Presny says they include Arden, Palmer, Riverside, and Lustig parks.
Cross country skiers will be able to use a groomed, eight mile trail at Rock Port Park beginning Saturday. The "Friends of Rock Port Park" maintain the trails.
There are no locations for outdoor skating yet, but Presny says if the weather stays cold, they might prepare Traxler Park for a seasonal rink.
The city doesn't provide warming facilities, so children should dress appropriately for the weather.
