WCLO's Steve Benton reports Rock County area snowmobile clubs are ready to support the Rock County Sheriff's Office during major snow storms

RSS

— With a major snow storm forecast for Rock County Tuesday through Wednesday, a group of Rock County snowmobile owners could be called on to assist in emergencies.

Rock County Snowmobile Alliance trail coordinator, Levi Olson, says every year the Rock County Sheriff's Office asks for a list of willing volunteers who could use their snowmobiles during major snow events. Olson says he could muster between 30 to 35 people from the various snowmobile clubs in the area if they were needed.

He says the last time they were called was two years ago when a major snow storm dumped so much snow, I-90 in Rock and Dane Counties had to be shut down because of stranded motorists.
