— Milton High's boys basketball suffered another late heartbreak Saturday night.

Madison Edgewood overcame a two-point deficit with less than one second remaining in regulation time and went on to edge the Red Hawks, 65-62, in a double-overtime Badger South thriller.

It was Milton's third three-point loss in eight days that went down to the wire, leaving the Red Hawks at 0-2 in the confefrence and 0-3 overall under first-year coach Zach Groelle.

Sam McCann's basket gave Milton a 52-50 lead with 0.8 seconds left in regulation. Edgewood (2-2, 1-0) drew a foul on the ensuing inbounds pass, and Scott Hird made two free throws to force the first overtime.

Spencer Brink's free throw with less than 10 seconds left lifted the Crusaders into a 58-58 tie and forced the second overtime.

Milton got the ball with 30 seconds left and Edgewood up 63-62 in the second overtime, but a turnover and foul sent Austin Arians of the Crusaders to the free-throw line with six seconds remaining. He made both, and the Red Hawks couldn't connect on a final three-point shot to force a third overtime.

McCann, a 6-4 sophomore forward, took scoring honors with 20 points. The Red Hawks also had Brandon Knudtson with 13 and Brandon Farnsworth with 11, while Christiaan Wabers led Edgewood with 17.
