Verona holds down Bluebirds

— The Verona Wildcats were the preseason favorite to win the Big Eight Conference hockey title.

Saturday night at the Janesville Ice Skating Center, the Wildcats proved why.

Tyler Schmelser had a goal and three assists to lead Verona to a 5-1 win.

Janesville (1-1, 1-1) outshot Verona, 28-25, but could not find the net.

I would be interested to know if this player was alright as well. I saw the injury firsthand and it did not look good. Any update would be appreciated.

A Verona player seemed hurt really bad. Does anybody know if he is okay?
