Jefferson girls top Big Foot in key Rock Valley opener

Jefferson High School’s third-quarter rally broke a first-half stalemate with Walworth Big Foot in a Rock Valley girls basketball opener Friday night.


After leading 14-13 at halftime, the Rock Valley North defending champions gained a 16-10 advantage in the third period for a 30-23 lead and went on to a 47-41 victory at Walworth.


Jessica Splittgerber scored nine of her 20 points in the third quarter for Jefferson. Splittgerber made 19 of 20 free throws overall. Danielle Janny added 17 points for the Eagles.


Haley Schwartz scored 17 points to pace Big Foot, while teammate Jordyn Courier scored 15 points.
