Special incentives for recruiting Cub Scout leaders
Podcast Episode
ROCK COUNTY The economy and social issues are forcing the Glacier's Edge Council of Boy Scouts to get innovative when looking for cub scout pack leaders.
District Director, Andrew Olsen of Janesville, says it takes a minimum of five adults to run a cub scout program and in some neighborhoods in Beloit and Janesville there aren't enough qualified people to do that.
They've begun an effort to interest Beloit College students into volunteering their time, but they're also offering to pay them. He says some of the students have scouting experience.
Olsen says the cub scout program at Hackett elementary school in Beloit is running with the help of a couple Beloit College students and they want to expand to at least four other schools in Beloit and Janesville.
