Parker swimmers open with a win; Craig ties Sun Prairie

— Janesville Parker won eight events en route to a 94-76 victory over Beloit Memorial in a Big Eight Conference girls swim dual meet opener here Friday.

“It’s a great place to be at the start of the season,” Parker High coach Andrea Nickel said.


Sara Goslin won the 200 individual medley in 2:40.1 and the 100 backstroke in 1:14.71 to lead the Vikings.


The Vikings host the 10-team Parker Relays at 11 a.m. today. Aong with the Vikings, it includes Janesville Craig, Badger/Big Foot/Williams Bay, Baraboo, Beloit Memorial, Delavan-Darien, Fort Atkinson, Madison La Follette, Milton and Monroe.

Craig, Sun Prairie tie


Janesville Craig and Sun Prairie battled to an 85-85 tie in their Big Eight dual opener Friday at Craig High.


“It could have gone either way,” Craig coach Brian Kitzman said. “There must have been four or five races where the difference between first and second, and second and third was just tenths of seconds.’’


Craig senior Hailey Schneider won the 200 individual medley in 2:13.49 seconds and the 100 breastroke in 1:09.49. The Cougars’ Betsy Collins won the 50 freestyle in 26.49.


Craig participates in the Janesville Parker Relays at 11 a.m. today.
