WCLO's Steve Benton reports on a new pilot program to help Janesville businesses become more energy efficient

RSS

— Janesville businesses can take advantage of a special deal from Alliant energy for an "energy check-up" soon.

Alliant spokesman, Scott Reigstad, says the program started in June, but was only offered in Fond du Lac. Janesville is the second city for pilot project.

Any small business wishing to participate will get a visit from an Alliant Energy consultant who will conduct an energy audit. Reigstad says this type of audit would normally cost between $200 to $300 but is being offered by Alliant Energy for $25.

The business owner can get "on the spot" tips from the consultant, but will also get a full, detailed report about two weeks after the visit. Business owners will then have the option of doing nothing, making changes or repairs on their own, using the state's Focus on Energy initiative, or a low cost financing program from Alliant.

The program officially starts September 1st in Janesville.
