From the WCLO newsroom:

An Evansville man is dead after his truck missed a curve and crashed into a tree early Saturday morning.

Rock County Sheriff's officials say 21-year-old Michael D. Sands was driving a pickup truck westbound on Highway C when he failed to negotiate a curve near Evansville-Brooklyn Road. He drove off the road for approximately 130 feet when he struck a tree. Sands was seat-belted and partially ejected. Evansville firefighters were able to extricate Sands from the truck. He was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital at 4:05 AM.

Speed is considered a contributing factor in the crash. Officials say toxicology tests should provide more information about the cause of the accident.
