JANESVILLE Janesville School Board President DuWayne Severson said he doesn’t want to be school board president for a third year.
The board elected Severson as its president in April 2008 and again in April 2009. Severson said this week that that he’ll continue in the job only until a new president is chosen after the April 2010 elections.
Severson said before the 2009 elections that he wasn’t interested in being president for a second year. After he was re-elected to the board, he said it was up to the other board members whether he should be president, but he might consider it. The board later elected him president unanimously.
In an interview this week, Severson said: “This is my second and last year as board president. There will be no other. I will accept no other posts after that. I’m going to be a board member, that’s all I’m going to be after this year …
“I enjoy what I’m doing, but there are eight other good people on the board, so we need to get those folks involved.”
Severson was first elected to the school board in 2003.

Good! His behavior toward an employee at a recent board meeting was reprehensible! Thank you to Bill Sodeman for calling him out on it. Now, if we can just get Severson to resign from the board.........
