Beloit Snappers break tie with two runs in 8th

BELOIT — The Beloit Snappers scored two runs in the eighth inning to break a 4-4 tie and defeat the visiting Clinton LumberKings, 6-4, in Midwest League baseball Tuesday night.

Beloit had a 4-0 lead after five innings, but Clinton scored four times between the sixth and eighth innings to tie it.

Ramon Santana smacked a pinch-hit two-run double in the bottom eighth to give the Snappers the lead for good.

Beloit closer Steven Blevins (3-4) pitched 1 1/3 innings of hitless relief to gain the victory.

Clinton had 11 hits to Beloit’s nine, but the Lumber-Kings left 10 on base, while Beloit stranded three.
