City of Janesville begins interviews for economic development director

Five candidates are vying to be selected as Janesville's next economic development director.

City Manager Eric Levitt says the candidates are presenting an exercise Friday showing how they would address a problem. The city provided the problem to each candidate. The candidates are also participating in committee interviews Friday. They hail from Roscoe, Rockford, Iowa, Florida and Colorado.

Levitt expects Doug Venable, who currently holds the post, to retire at the end of October. He wants the new director to work with Venable for at least 30 days.
